Justice and Rights
March 27-30, 2006
The "Fifth Building Bridges Seminar: Justice and Rights" was held at Georgetown University in March 2006. Following the focus on the relationship between religion, politics and society at Sarajevo in May 2005, this event explored the theme of justice and rights. The seminar followed a sequence from "Scriptural Foundations" through "Evolving Traditions" to "The Modern World." In addition to scriptural passages, participants discussed classical writings by thinkers such as Augustine and al-Ghazali and influential modern texts such as the Barmen Declaration and Islamic Declarations on Human Rights. A record of this seminar was published as Justice & Rights: Christian and Muslim Perspectives (2009).
