Michael Northcott is emeritus professor of ethics in the School of Divinity at the University of Edinburgh and a visiting professor at Heidelberg University. His best known work is on environmental theology and ethics, and he has written extensively on economic ethics, theology, and biotechnology. Northcott is also an Episcopal priest. He holds a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Durham and Ph.D. from the University of Sunderland.
